Ministering Cross-Culturally, Lingenfelter and Mayers, Baker Books. This is a good book that will give you great insight to the culture that you will be in. Consider getting a couple of copies and reading and passing around.

Until We All Have Names by Bill McCoy – a missionary book from 2005-2006.

Peace Child and Lords of the Earth by Don Richardson – these were written about a tribe just over the border in West Papua but are still wonderful.

Papua New Guinea by the Lonely Planet - this book tells a lot of interesting things about PNG and the culture. Its good to remember when you read it that its written by non-Christians who do not have a high opinion of missionaries. Also some of the cautions about danger can be intimidating. I don’t think PNG is any more dangerous than other third world countries.
